How Do I Reset My Password?

Where Can I Take The RASCAL Certification Tests?
Click here and log into RASCAL with your UNI. Click the " Course Listings " link to view the selection of courses. Click the link for the course you need to take (ie: TC0000 - This Is An Example ). Click Take Course to review the course material and then click Take Test to complete the certification training.

How Do I Create A Project Within RASCAL?
Upon logging into any of the RASCAL modules click the " Create a ... " link. On the following page click the save button.
You do not have to enter any information in order to save an entry.
Record the number of your RASCAL record (ie: XXXX9999). You will use this number to retrieve your record in the future. You have now created a record within RASCAL you may exit and return to this record at any time. Once you have completed all data entry you may notify any assigned approvers and approve the record. All approvers must log into RASCAL and approve the record. Once all approvers have signed-off you may submit your record for institutional approval.

How Do I Make Changes To My Approved IRB Protocol Within RASCAL?
To make changes to an approved IRB Protocol you must "Create A Modification". To create a modification to your protocol browse to the "Protocol Overview" page and click on the "• Create Modification" link. On the following page click the save button.
You do not have to enter any information in order to save an entry.
You have now created a modification to your IRB Protocol you may exit and return to this record at any time. Once you have completed all data entry you may notify any assigned approvers and approve the record. All approvers must log into RASCAL and approve the record. Once all approvers have signed-off you may submit your record for institutional approval.

How Long Will It Take For My Submission To Be Approved?
Approval periods for a RASCAL submission can vary depending on the Columbia Department you are submitting to:
- For IRB:
Submission deadlines and scheduled meeting dates are available for both the Morningside Campus and the Medical Center. No protocol is guaranteed approval by a specific date and dates are subject to change.

Why Do I Have To Type My UNI & Password So Often?
If you find that you are entering your login information often when using RASCAL it is possible that you have not noticed the "Go To" menu:

When accessing modules from the RASCAL home page you will be asked for your UNI and password every time. If you are already logged into a module you may use the links on the "Go To" menu to avoid this.
This menu is the easiest way to browse between RASCAL modules when navigating withing the RASCAL system. It is available from the main menu page within each module.

How Can I Copy/Paste My Data To/From RASCAL?
You may directly edit your data when the status of your RASCAL record is: "Creating", "Returned" or "Pending".
If your record has a status other than "Creating", "Returned" or "Pending" you may only access your record as read only. Additionally IRB Records, including HIPPA & Consent Forms are available only as an Adobe® PDF Object when read only.

How Do I Attach/Delete Files From My RASCAL Project?
- If the status of your RASCAL record is "Creating":
You may attach and delete documents freely
- If the status of your RASCAL record is "Returned" or "Pending":
You may freely attach additional documents as needed. You may not delete documents. Instead, you may set the status of unwanted documents to "Archived". If you have made any changes to documents that will be archived you must attach the new version of the document.
- If the status of your RASCAL record is "Approved":
You may not make any changes to the documents attached to your protocol
